Latest vacancies at Airplan Flight Equipment

Our activities include aviation publishing, worldwide mail-order sales, pilot shops and trade distribution to flying schools and Flight Training Organisations.

We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious aviation-minded individuals to join the friendly teams at our head office close to Manchester Airport and at our Oxford Airport operation. The basic job descriptions are outlined below and we invite applications from anybody who would like to play a part in our future growth and development.

“Now recruiting” - means that we are actively seeking a person for this position and will be interviewing immediately.

“Applications considered” - means that while no specific recruitment is in progress, these positions may become available at short notice and recent applications from suitable candidates will be held on file and reviewed when vacancies arise.

In all positions a good telephone manner, fluency in English, basic computer literacy and a willingness to 'muck in' when circumstances demand it are required, together with an attitude that regards the needs of our customers as paramount and a positive, flexible 'can-do' outlook.

As an aviation company we offer particularly good prospects for those seeking a career in aviation, and we may be able to offer flight training and flying qualifications assistance to suitable individuals.

Except where stated all these positions are full time, based on a notional 37.5 hour week, nevertheless we may consider applications for part-time working from suitably qualified applicants.

Manchester

Financial assistant/Credit controller - handling all aspects of our sales ledger including receipts processing and reconciliation, dealing with account and payment queries, production of statements, credit control and assisting the financial manager. For the right candidate there is the opportunity to progress within the company with increasing responsibilities. Basic bookkeeping and computer skills are essential, although full training will be given.

Customer Services - dealing with our customers in person, by telephone and via our website, and also undertaking other customer-services and administration duties as appropriate. You will need good interpersonal skills, a pleasant and helpful telephone manner and a willingness to learn about our wide range of products. A basic aviation knowledge and reasonable computer skills are required, although full training in our product range and our computerised order processing and stock control systems are part of the package.

Warehouse Person - with our busy mail-order warehouse dispatching several thousand items a week to all parts of the world, we need reliable and methodical people to undertake stock picking, packing, dispatch and general warehouse duties. An attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines are essential for this salaried position. Basic computer literacy will be useful and training will be given in our computerised order processing and stock control systems, as well as the use of email, the Internet and import/export procedures. There is also the possibility of local delivery/collection driving and FLT training and further career progression for the right applicant.

Office Assistants - the ideal post for an aviation-minded person with the ambition and drive to grow with the company. Basic computer literacy and a good telephone manner are essential, the job description includes assisting the customer services team in dealing with our customers and suppliers worldwide, basic office administration and order processing. Training will be given in our computerised order processing and stock control systems, as well as the use of email and Internet, databases and import/export procedures. The successful candidate will enjoy a varied and dynamic working atmosphere and the opportunity to further flying and non-flying qualifications and experience.

Oxford

You will need good interpersonal skills, a pleasant and helpful personal and telephone manner and a willingness to learn about our wide range of products. Our Oxford office specialises in the more ‘technical’ aspects of our product range – radios, instruments, oxygen systems, parachutes, gliding instrumentation etc. so a technical background or working knowledge of these types of products will be a distinct advantage.
